Well I'll give ya the short story. Wilson Jones and I made the 5 Year Plan that is going to make the dream a reality - wearing the Silver Fern on the start line of XCO World Champs within the next 5 years.
I've been riding a bike since I was 5, taking up Mountain Biking for two years when I was 14. I spent a lot of time in the forest with the boys, riding old motor-cross tracks. I won my first bike race, the Coastal Classic in 2005. In 2007 I dislocated my kneecap playing Football, had to drop Mountain Biking, then picked it up again late 2009. I've been riding nearly every day since, but have only been training for two seasons, since mid August 2010. I can count the races I've done on three hands but I have learned a lot from every single one. I love racing.
Other than that? I'm graduating Otago University in less than three months with an Economics degree, which most recently was complimented by working for NZBus in Wellington as an Analyst. I love coffee, NZ music, travelling the country, meeting people, music in general, the outdoors, freedom, going on adventures, and chilling with mates. My coach is Lisa Morgan.. not sure where I'd be without her caring about what I'm doing, and simply just understanding when sometimes I don't (which is often!)
I also look up to Willow Koerber, Justin Leov, Alison Shanks and Mahe Drysdale. I'll never forget the moment 20 of us girls crammed into Rosa's lounge on a cold Saturday night, yelling fiercely at Mahe on the fuzzy 14" TV. Despite being as sick as a dog with poisoning and vomiting on the start line he rowed to bronze at the 2008 Olympics. A true Kiwi who showed the world what it is to be a Kiwi athlete.
